What is the CACHE Technical Qualification element of the T Level?
The CACHE Level 3 Technical Qualification in Education & Childcare will provide learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher level technical training or study in the Education and Childcare sector. There are two occupational specialisms within the qualification, Assisting Teaching, which will consist of classroom-based and practical learning. This will be a pathway to Primary Teaching, in Key Stage One and Two. The second option is the Early years Educator route, which will give successful learners Licence to Practice.
Equivalent to 3 A Levels, the course meets industry requirements and offers a mixture of classroom learning and industry placement.
The programme will involve:
A core set of underpinning knowledge, concepts and skills tailored for the industry and occupation of choice, such as Safeguarding, Observing and Planning for Children’s Development and the Importance of Play
Industry and occupational specific content. Specialist content will ensure students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enter employment
An industry placement with an employer focused on developing the practical and technical skills required for the occupation.
Core knowledge and skills (concepts, theories and principles relevant to chosen industrial T Level) are assessed through an external examination and an employer set project. Occupational specialism (skills and behaviours required and demonstrated in placement to achieve threshold competence in an occupational specialism) assessed synoptically through practical assignments.
Assisting Teaching Pathway - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include Maths, English and Science
Early Years Educator Pathway - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include Maths and English. Grade 4 in Science is recommended.
T Levels provide several progression options. These include, skilled employment, an apprenticeship and higher education. UCAS points will only be allocated to the overall T Level Grade. Students must achieve at least an overall Pass Grade to receive UCAS points.
AN APPRENTICESHIP COULD ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
Completing the qualification can lead to numerous roles, including Early Years Practitioner and Teaching Assistant, depending on the occupational specialism chosen.
DURATION
2 Years
We expect the total time for a T Level to be around 1,800 hours over the 2 years, including the industry placement. This is a significant increase on most current technical education courses. This is a significant increase on most current technical education courses.
