Religious Studies A Level

Religious Studies offers a relevant and engaging study of philosophical and ethical issues alongside secular study of religious beliefs, behaviours, and institutions.

During this course, you will have the opportunity to study a range of widely disputed issues. How can God and evil coexist? Do miracles really happen? What are the key moral principles in Christianity? What are Christian views about gender and sexuality?

You will learn how to question, argue, debate and develop your views in an open- minded and challenging environment.

How will I be assessed?

Religious Studies at Halesowen College is a 'linear' qualification. This means that students will complete a mock examination at the end of the first year and are expected to continue to the end of the second year where they will sit their external A' Level exams.

What do I need?

You will need GCSEs with 2 grade 6s and 3 grade 5s including a grade 5 in English Language. Retaking GCSE Maths as part of your programme is required if you do not have Grade 4.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to an exciting range of higher level courses, including Teaching. A degree in a related subject, such as Theology & Religion, Philosophy, Law, History, Social Policy or Sociology, could also be an option.
