Are you interested in a career in the Police Service?
This course has been developed with subject experts and professional bodies to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to assist with your application to the Police, undertake further study or embark on any number of protective services careers.
The course is delivered by a diverse range of lecturers with their own vocational experience and skill sets. This will provide you with the key skills and life skills to prepare you for entry into the Police and many other careers.
Throughout the course you will develop your critical thinking about policing, policy and practice through complementary units such as, service entry requirements and preparation, values, operational policing principles, legislation, criminal justice, domestic violence and many more. To develop these skills, you will be involved in practical activities and events, and experience a range of guest speakers.
Whilst undertaking the course you will be expected to wear a Public Service uniform each day in College and take part in formal parades, and drill training, as is customary within the Police.
You will have to complete 30 hours work experience in a relevant career setting.
The course is assessed through a combination of presentations, reports, group discussions, timed assessments, practical and written work, as well as in-class elements.
You will need to have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, including English and Maths.
You could progress to a range of higher level courses, including degrees in Professional Policing, Criminology and Law. You can also apply for Police Constable and PCSO.
This course is ideal if you are interested in a career as a Police Officer, Prison Officer, Probation Officer, Security Officer/Adviser, Military Police Officer or other Protective Services roles.
