Music and Music Technology Level 2

Have you ever thought about becoming a famous musician? Have you ever considered your future as a world-renowned music producer? The Music industry is ready for you! This course is designed to give you a solid foundation and insight into the world of popular music and modern production techniques. This course will provide a grounding in both practical music skills and performance as well as music technology to prepare you to specialise in one of our Level 3 music pathways upon completion. You will explore self-promotion and development, production, composition and performance on this split discipline programme

As a student, you can make full use of the facilities within the department, which include 3 Music Studios, 3 Rehearsal PODS and 2 fully equipped Mac Suites. You will also enjoy the opportunities to work in a professional setting and participate in external shows, which are held every half term. You can invite parents, guardians, friends and members of the public to watch you reach your potential.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a combination of written and practical coursework.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have grade 4. This will ensure you can progress onto a level 3 course or apprenticeship and will improve your future employment prospects. You will also take part in an audition.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to a Level 3 vocational course, including Music Performance or Music Production & Sound Engineering.

You could consider a junior post in the Music industry with hundreds of jobs to aspire to, including Freelancing, Songwriting, Production, Backline Technical Management or Sound Engineering.
