Supporting Healthcare T Level - Midwifery

Throughout this course students will receive exposure into health and social care settings, consisting of social care and clinical settings. Students will develop practical and theoretical knowledge, skills, and behaviours in readiness for future employment. In year 1 students will complete two exams, Core A the fundamental elements of health and social care and Core B biology, as well as an Employer-Set Project, simulated experienced working alongside a patient, producing a care plan and presenting this to a manager.

In year 2 students will complete either Supporting the Adult Nursing Team Pathway or Supporting the Midwifery Team Pathway, Students will develop skills, knowledge and behaviours on these pathways and will have practical assessment points throughout. Students will develop knowledge of the overall care needs of service users, working alongside various healthcare professionals and how to undertake a range of physiological measurements.

315 hours of mandatory placement hours over the two year programme.

How will I be assessed?

Year 1: Employer-Set Project and Core 1A examination and Core 1B examination and placement book completion.
Year 2: Practical Assessments and Professional Discussions through observations and placement book completion.

What do I need?

GCSE Science Grade 5 and above, GCSE English Language Grade 4 and above, GCSE Maths Grade 4 and above alongside two other GCSE subjects that are of Grade 4 and above.
At the end of year 1 of the academic year students will interview for a place on either Adult Nursing or Midwifery Pathway for year 2 of the programme.

Where can it take me?

Students who achieve this qualification could progress to the following, depending on their chosen occupational specialism:

  • employment:
  • ambulance support worker
  • healthcare support worker in a health setting
  • senior healthcare support worker in a health setting
  • higher education
  • apprenticeship (progression onto lower level apprenticeships may also be possible in some circumstances, if the content is sufficiently different)
