Graphic Design Level 2

If you are interested in the world of Graphic Design this course will give you the opportunity to study the work of contemporary and historical artists, typographers and designers.

You will also learn the traditional and digital skills required to develop your own ideas and creativity.

Through working in a variety of specialisms including drawing, printmaking, photography and digital design, you will be able to explore, experiment and develop practical skills. This will enable you to learn about Graphic Design and the career opportunities available.

To further enhance your employability skills, there will be opportunities for you to complete a one week work placement. This compulsory aspect of the course gives you the chance to apply the knowledge gained in class, to the real world of work.

How will I be assessed?

Your coursework will be continually assessed by completing a series of projects and exhibiting your work.

What do I need?

You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English, Maths and an Art-based subject. It is a requirement, however, that you retake GCSE English and Maths as part of your programme, if you do not have Grade 4. This will ensure you can progress to a Level 3 course or apprenticeship, and will improve your future employment prospects.

You will also need to provide a portfolio of work that demonstrates passion, commitment and energy.

Where can it take me?

You can progress to a Level 3 vocational course, including Graphic Design and Art & Design.
