The Diploma in Fitness Instruction and Sports Physical Activity is assessed through a combination of practical assessments and coursework to ensure learners develop both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills.
Students will complete practical assessments where they demonstrate their ability to coach, instruct, and apply fitness training techniques in real-world scenarios. Coursework and assignments will include written tasks, case studies, and project-based work to showcase understanding of key topics.
The 100-hour work placement will be monitored and assessed based on performance, engagement, and skill development. Lecturers will provide ongoing support and feedback throughout the course to help students progress.
This course is open to students aged 16 and over who have a passion for fitness, sports, and coaching. Applicants should have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English, Maths, and/or PE, or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
While prior experience in a gym, sports club, or coaching environment is beneficial, it is not essential. As the course includes practical fitness and coaching elements, students should be prepared to take part in physical activities and assessments.
An interview and/or skills assessment may be required as part of the application process.
