Why study this course?
The Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistants Certificate is a part time course designed for adults who want to move into the thriving dog grooming industry.
Course content
During this introductory Dog Grooming course, you will undertake both theory and practical based lessons giving you knowledge and understanding to assist a professional dog groomer within a salon.
This is the City and Guilds Certified course taught by experienced dog groomers in our state of the art working dog grooming salon.
Subjects you will study during the course will include preparing and grooming dogs, bathing and drying of dogs, basic trimming of a dog’s coat, maintaining cleanliness and biosecurity and introduction to anatomical features, breed characteristics and behaviour of dogs.
Entry requirements
You will need to have achieved at least 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 and above, including English and Maths. Functional Skills will be considered. If you did not have this we can discuss at interview and decisions would be made on an individual basis. A handling assessment will need to be undertaken before being enrolled on the course.
Materials
Students are required to purchase a Dog Grooming tunic, which is to be worn during practical work. Further details of this will be given at enrolment.

Additional Information
Candidates will need to buy their own dog grooming uniform (all available through the Halazon website) as well as a professional scissor set. All instructions for this will be discussed in induction week.
