Local MP Visits College’s New Facilities

NEWS

During a recent visit to Halesowen College, Labour MP for Halesowen, Alex Ballinger explored the college’s new state-of-the-art hair and beauty salon facilities.

Mr Ballinger spoke with staff and students, discussing their current courses and their aspirations to work within the industry.

Halesowen College, known for its commitment to providing a wide range of courses to both 16-19 learners and adults seeking to re-enter the workforce, boasts a successful hair and beauty department. Offering comprehensive training in nail treatments, facial and neck massages, the college ensures that its students are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in the industry.

Impressed by the college’s commitment to foster educational participation across the community, Mr Ballinger also took the opportunity to step aboard CEDRIC the digital bus, the college’s latest initiative.

CEDRIC (acronym for Creating Engaging Digital Resources in the Community), aims to extend educational opportunities to local hard-to-reach communities. The bus will venture throughout the local area, working with communities and providing essential IT upskilling to local businesses.

Jacquie Carman, Principal and Chief Executive of Halesowen College, said “it was great to welcome our local MP into college and allow him to see for himself the amazing facilities that we are able to offer learners of all ages, be that through our on-site facilities or our latest addition, CEDRIC.”

“Reflecting on his visit, Mr Ballinger commented “It was a pleasure to meet so many students at Halesowen College’s brand-new facilities. I was also pleased to see the College doing more outreach across the Black Country through their digital inclusion bus”.
