Mayfly 2024 mainstage headliners 'Wonder'

On Thursday 9th May, the doors of ‘The Grove’, home of Halesowen Town Football Club, were opened as the club played host to Halesowen College’s vibrant and immersive music experience, Mayfly Festival.

Against the backdrop of fantastic summer evening, the festival atmosphere was set.  Student talent was celebrated and the firm partnerships between the college and Halesowen Town, underscored, demonstrating a collaborative spirit that enriches both academic and extra-curricular pursuits.

The annual Mayfly Festival showcases the talents of the college’s performing arts students alongside a dynamic array of activities for the whole family.  College students transformed into seasoned performers as they took to the stage with their bands, infusing the festival with an electric atmosphere reminiscent of a real-life gig.

Beyond the music, attendees enjoyed a variety of engaging activities spanning multiple cross college curriculum areas, from bracelet making and festival make-up to dancing and digital VR games.

Staff across the college are proud of the success of Mayfly 2024, a celebration of student creativity and community spirit. This year’s festival surpassed all expectations, drawing record-breaking crowds and showcasing the exceptional talents of its students.

Jacquie Carman, Principal and Chief Executive Halesowen College said “Mayfly was a magnificent showcase of talent and reflected the hard work and commitment from our staff and students. It was a brilliant opportunity to bring the College into the community and, create a truly enjoyable and memorable evening for students, parents, staff, partners and local people”.

Halesowen Town Chairman Keith McKenna said “We were thrilled to host the Halesowen College ‘Mayfly Festival’ at the home of Halesowen Town FC and delighted the way everything was communicated, planned and executed. Such a great event for the students and the community of Halesowen and we acknowledge how hard everyone at the college worked to make this event happen”.’

Stacey Rogers, Head of Enterprise at Halesowen College said “The overwhelming enthusiasm from the community and the collaboration and support from Halesowen Town FC made the Mayfly Festival a truly unforgettable experience. We are already progressing ahead with plans for next year.”
