Well-being and Mental Health Support

At Halesowen college we recognise that well-being and mental health concerns can have an impact on anyone at any time. We have a dedicated team of well-being advisors and counsellors who will: listen, find a safe space and time to talk, show kindness and compassion, be respectful, be open and inclusive and offer support and guidance to support success. Where it is appropriate, we will refer to external services.

The College Counselling Service offers appointments from Monday to Friday during normal college hours. The service is confidential and our counsellors are accredited and fully qualified. Appointments can be made in person or using our online booking system.

Our counsellors work with a wide range of issues and are able to offer academic support (eg exam stress). Our philosophy is to help students support themselves by helping them to find a way to manage their difficulties in an accepting and safe environment.

We also offer a multi-faith chaplaincy service. Our chaplains are here to support anyone who wants to talk about issues like lifestyle, faith, friendship, family or bereavement.

All learners have access to Togetherall, a support platform available 24/7 to support mental fitness. We have the support of Hazel Charlton, college Chaplain who runs the ‘Animal Cafe’ – this allows learners to meet in a safe space and handle animals which can promote well-being and improve mental health.
