Why study this course?
This course will allow you to develop an insight into teaching in the lifelong learning sector. The qualification is aimed at people who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector. For people who are not in a teaching role, or who have just started a teaching role, for those who want a short qualification to enable them to make career choices. You will be able to develop skills in planning, delivery and reflection through a variety of activities.
You can progress onto the Diploma in Teaching. The course runs in partnership with Worcester University.
Course content
There are 3 units including the role and responsibilities of teachers, inclusive teaching and assessment.
There will also be a micro teach session completed in front of your peers lasting for a minimum of 15 minutes, this is recorded for quality purposes.
There is a written assignment for each unit, each has a number of different parts.
All work will be presented in an online portfolio at the end of the course.
You will be assessed via written assignments and a micro-teach. Each assignment is marked at pass or refer, there is a second opportunity to submit work. All work must be presented in an online portfolio at the end of the course.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements you will though need to have good levels of literacy as work is completed to ‘A’ level standard. All work has to be word processed so some computer skills will also be needed.
Progression
This course provides a foundation and step up to the L5 Diploma in Teaching. To progress to this, applicants must also have a pass in both English and Maths and a L3 in a subject specialism.
