Why study this course?
This dynamic photographic make-up course is over 10 weeks and will ensure you are “work ready” with designing different looks that can be captured appropriately when using a camera. The course covers a range of make-up looks: fantasy, bridal and period, using a variety of costumes to enhance your creative looks.
Course content
You will learn about make-up for different facial features, skin types, eye and lip shapes, different facial characteristics, glasses and contact lens wearers as well as lighting and other photographic make-up factors. You will learn how to use professional make-up products, tools and equipment. You will learn make up application techniques for the following looks; Bridal, Fantasy, historical, black & white photographic and colour photographic.

Observation of skills (X3 practical assessments)
On successful completion you will achieve a recognised awarding body VTCT award in L2 Art of Photographic make-up.
Entry requirements
Prerequisite: an interest in beauty therapies and a natural flare for make-up. This course will allow you to progress into employment or further hair and beauty courses within the college. We ask you attend all your planned timetabled lessons to ensure full guided learning hours are achieved to enable you to become fully qualified.
A place on this course will only be confirmed and finalised, once you have had a telephone or face-to-face interview with a subject specialist or the course leader.
Materials
Uniform: smart black wear i.e., black trousers, a shirt or blouse or a tunic are only suitable in the salon – smart wear you feel most comfortable in. Smart footwear closed toe shoes, but no trainers or heels. We ask you to tie your hair back for practical delivery and remove all jewellery to follow our ethos of health and safety.
It is advisable, if you are able to do so, please purchase or bring in your own make-up brushes to practical lessons to enable you to create your looks on your own faces.
