Why study this course?
Children displaying distressed behaviour can be extremely difficult for parents, carers and professionals. This qualification aims to develop your knowledge of distressed behaviour in children. You will gain a general awareness of the causes of distressed behaviour along with an understanding of appropriate ways to support a child displaying distressed behaviour. Furthermore, you will consider how other conditions can play a role in distressed behaviour being displayed by a child. Finally, you will gain an understanding of how current legislation underpins approaches to providing support for a child who displays distressed behaviour.
This course is ideal for those who wish to develop their knowledge of distressed behaviour whether you are a parent / carer or you are planning a career which requires an understanding of distressed behaviour.

Unit 1: Awareness of distressed behaviour in children
Unit 2: Principles of intervention when working with children who display distressed behaviour
Unit 3: Distressed behaviour and mental health in children
Unit 4: Distressed behaviour and learning disabilities in children
Unit 5: Distressed behaviour, sensory processing conditions and autism spectrum conditions in children
Unit 6: Legislation and guidance for an individual providing support to children displaying distressed behaviour
Entry requirements
Age 19+
Aged 19-23 – level 2 qualification or 5 GCSEs
Aged 23+ Good level of written and spoken English
