Kick-start your new career with us

Have you thought about teaching in Further Education?

If you have valuable industry knowledge and skills and are thinking of a career change or taking you first steps into teaching, then there’s no better time than now. You CAN be part of something amazing and help the next generation of young people or adult learners, helping shape the lives of the future workforce.

Teaching in FE can be a hugely rewarding and fulfilling career. It allows you to use your existing skills to inspire future talent with the possibility of completing teacher training on the job and continue within existing job or commitments whilst teaching part-time alongside.

You don’t always need a degree or teaching qualification to get started – you can complete teacher training on the job, meaning you can start earning straight away.

It is also an ideal route for those looking for flexible working opportunities, teaching part-time or flexibly around work and personal commitments.

Opportunities start here

Halesowen College offers Trainee Lecturer and Sessional Lecturer job opportunities, allowing you to study for your teaching qualification whilst gaining on the job experience.

The Diploma in Teaching (DIT) delivered by Halesowen College is validated and quality assured by the University of Worcester.  The course requires you to attend College one evening per week with tutorials once a week to monitor progress.

Halesowen College – a great place to work

In September 2023, we were rated as GOOD by OFSTED.  This is testament to the commitment and dedication from all of our staff in making Halesowen College a great place to work. We have also been recognised as a Leader in Diversity which has been retained since November 2020, for Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement.

We have a culture of high standards, innovation and ambition; a learning environment where staff and students’ wellbeing is paramount, where everyone can be themselves – allowing them to Learn, Flourish and Succeed.

Our facilities, buildings and resources are modern, inviting and the campuses are an exciting place to learn and work.  We operate from four main sites; Whittingham Road, Shenstone House, Coombs Wood Centre and our new site Trinity Point, this will house our digital and media curriculum areas with state-of-the-art technology.

Halesowen is an inclusive and supportive environment to work.  Staff report they are well supported by their line manager, feeling able to approach them, that they receive regular feedback and feel confident in what is expected of them. Staff work hard and work well together. We are proud of our diversity and invite individuals to join the college who share this ethos and can contribute to having positive relationships and conversations.
