Halesowen College student Matthew has spent five days training with the Aston Villa under 21s squad.

The 17-year-old is a second year Halesowen Town Football Academy student and had the opportunity to train with Aston Villa during an international break in their training.

In February, Matthew also played football for England Colleges Football Association in Italy.

Emma Collins, Personal Coach at Halesowen College, said: “Congratulations to Matthew on his success so far. He is really getting himself known in the football world which he can build on for the future.

Matthew said: “The college has been really helpful and given me a lot of great opportunities that I wouldn’t get anywhere else. I have been able to show my ability.

“I am grateful for these opportunities and would like to thank the coaches, Josh and Craig, who have helped me to develop myself since joining the course last year.”

Matthew is from Birmingham and is a former pupil of Shenley Academy.
