About this course

This qualification indicates an individual can undertake the role of First Aider in the Workplace that may have been identified by a workplace risk assessment, and can be relied upon by employers to satisfy the due diligence requirements of the HSE for FAW training providers.

The qualification will benefit all who need to be introduced to emergency first aid in the workplace and those who require requalification training in emergency first aid in the workplace.

Successful completion of the course will result in knowledge and skills that have been identified by the HSE for the safe, effective and prompt treatment of injuries and illness in the workplace.

What will I learn?

Students complete two modules and are required to maintain a perfect attendance record for the taught sessions.

Delivery includes a range of classroom activities eg discussion, informal presentations and seminars and students will also be expected to engage with simulations to support their learning, development and assessment.

In addition to support from the lecturer and student services at the college, students have access to resources and services on our Virtual Learning Environment.

How will I be assessed?

The skills of each candidate are continuously assessed by practical examinations throughout the course.

What do I need?

Specific Requirements

Learners 16 years or older. No academic requirements. However, students should be aware they will be participating in an active course that involves some kneeling, rolling, lying and touching of others.

Where can it take me?

Students interested in first aid may wish to study a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or a Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid.

Additional Information

Will this course lead to a formal qualification?
Students will receive a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work. This qualification is regulated in England and Wales by the external regulators of qualifications - Ofqual and Qualifications Wales.
