About this course
This HND course is for students who have had prior experience of studying Photography and provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the Photography sector. The aim of the course is to prepare you for a career as a photographer.
Through a choice of specialist units, the main emphasis throughout the course will be on developing a creative portfolio and using a wide range of photographic techniques.
The course will develop your particular talents as a photographer and you will build a portfolio of work that clearly identifies you as a photographer of, for example, portraits, fashion and advertising or as a photojournalist. The portfolio is the photographer-s most powerful tool (it is what gets you work) and there will be a strong emphasis on creating this.
As the HND is a vocational course you will be placed in a work environment during your second year so that you can appreciate the rigours of the profession at first hand. You will be visited by working professionals who will tell you about how they built their careers, and give you feedback on your own work.
