Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 2 Apprenticeship
About this course
The NCFE CACHE Intermediate Level Apprenticeship for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is designed for learning support staff whose responsibilities at work are closely supervised. You will be working under the direction of the class teacher with lesson planning and day-to-day direction. You will need to have an interest in, and commitment to, working with children and/or young people, some experience of working with children and young people and the ability to relate well to them.
You will attend College 1 day a week to work towards the qualification, while working in a school for the other 4 days a weeks. You will also be required to complete the Employer Rights & Responsibilities workbook and demonstrate Personal Learning & Thinking Skills throughout the Apprenticeship.
What will I learn?
During the course you will study 11 units, 2 of which are optional and may be taken at level 3. These include how you support children during their learning activities by using a variety of skills such as motivation.
You will also learn how a child develops their communication skills and relationships with others; recognise the importance of safeguarding children as well as yourself; and understand the current guidelines and procedures within schools.
How will I be assessed?
All units are internally assessed using a range of methods such as written assignments, reflection on your own practice in real work situations as well as devising your own plans and records.
To demonstrate your practical competency you will be observed in your workplace every five weeks.
What do I need?
- 5 GCSE passes at grade A - C, or their equivalent, ideally to include Maths and English Language
All applicants will be interviewed and assessed for their suitability for this apprenticeship.
