Engineering Level 4 - Higher Apprenticeship
About this course
This 30 month Higher Apprenticeship is an ideal stepping stone to a career in High Value Manufacturing, which is a priority area for growth in the Black Country. As part of this Apprenticeship, you will study of either:
- BTEC HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- BTEC HNC in Manufacturing Engineering
Depending on your apprenticeship employment. You will attend College for one day per week for two years to work towards the HNC and work the remaining four days each week in an engineering job . Your developing skills will be assessed in the workplace by a visiting College assessor.
If this is the first apprenticeship programme that you have undertaken, you will also be required to complete a workbook on Employer Rights and Responsibilities.
How will I be assessed?
The HNC is assessed through practical and written assignment work throughout the programme. Practical skills in the workplace are assessed by observation, professional discussion, witness testimony and written statements.
What do I need?
In addition to GCSE passes in English Language and Mathematics, applicants should have achieved (or hope to achieve) passes at A level in Mathematics and Physics or a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering.
Where can it take me?
Progression to permanent employment and/or HND or top up degree in Engineering.
